Olen vuosien aikana kerännyt aikamoisen määrän kissakortteja. Museoiden kaupat ovat oikeita aarreaittoja kissakorttien kerääjälle. Useat korteistani ovat taidekortteja.
Japanese woodblock prints are lovely! The work behind all the details and colours is quite mind-boggling. And you don´t have to admire only the technique, because these pictures have also contents. In this card there is a wild perspective and the grid of the window covers the landscape. And still the feeling is peaceful and lingering, the fields of Asakusa are in the bluish evening dusk, Mount Fuji in the background. This picture "Cat Looking at Fields at Asakusa" is one of the series "100 Views of Edo", the artist is Andõ Hiroshige (1797-1858). The symbolism of the picture does not open easily for a Westerner. Here is an interpretation from Wikipedia: "White cat represents courtesan who just finished her work; the festival of the rooster is hinted at by bear's paw hairpins resembling the good luck rakes carried by pilgrims in the background."
treasure-troves for a cat card collector. Several of my cat cads are art cards.
