TAHMELAN RANTA / TAHMELA BEACH

Lisäsin kaksi uutta palaa neliosaiseen linopiirrokseen Pispalan harjusta. Uudet palat tulivat kuvan keskelle ja mukaan tuli enemmän Tahmelan rantaa ja kasvipalstoja. Nyt näkymä on lähempänä sitä panoraamaa Pispalan harjusta ja Tahmelan rannasta, jonka voi talvella nähdä Pyhäjärven jäältä. Tämä linopiirros on nyt iso: 40 x 90 cm. Vedostamiseen tarvitsin taas kesämökin nurmikkojyrää, jossa on sisällä 70 litraa vettä. Paperina käytän näissä isommissa vedoksissa linoposteria, 90 g. Paperia saa sopivasti 72 x 107 cm kokoisina arkkeina. Paperissa on kiiltävä, kova puoli ja pehmeämpi, karheampi puoli. Käytän pehmeämpää puolta, sillä se imee värin tasaisemmin. Paperi on aika ohut, mutta se ei veny tai rypisty. Käytän värin levittämiseen metallista tiskipöytää, vedostan lattiailla ja kuivatan vedokset pyykkipojilla kiinnitettyinä katosta roikkuvissa vaateripustimissa. Ihana vedostusilma on suomalainen kesä, ei liian kuiva ja kuuma, sopivasti kostea.

I added two new pieces to my four-part linocut of Pispala Ridge. New parts came in the middle of the picture, and there will now be more Tahmela beach and allotment. Now the view is more like the panorama of Pispala ridge and Tahmela beach seen in the winter from the ice of the lake Pyhäjärvi. This linocut is now quite large: 40 x 90 cm. For the printing I needed again my garden roller in the summer cottage, filled with 70 litres of water. I use with these bigger linos 90 gr linoposter paper.You can buy this paper suitably as 72 x 107 cm sized sheets. The paper has a harder, shiny side and softer, smoother side. I use the softer side, because it takes the ink more evenly. The paper is quite thin, but it does not stretch or wrinkle. I use for inking a metallic sink, print on the floor, and dry the linos hanging from coat hangers with clothespins. The ideal weather for printing is a Finnish summer, not too dry and hot, suitably damp.
