Amerikkalaisen Bernard Klibanin (1935-1990) kissat tunnistaa heti. Kissalla on kapeat raidat, pienet pystyt korvat, isot takajalat kuin jäniksellä ja ne silmät! Pienet pyöreät silmät, joissa on vain yksi piste, onnistuvat aina kertomaan kissan aikeet tai tunteet. Nyt kissa katsoo tarkkaan valkoista lintua, joka on olevinaan saalis. Mutta lintu hämmästelee vain kissan outoa valepukua, kirkkaan keltaisia siipiä ja valtavaa oranssia nokkaa. Klibanin piirustusjälki on aina hienoa kuten nyt puurungossakin. Ja taustan violetti värikin on Klibanille tyypillinen sävy.

The cats by American Bernard Kliban (1935-1990) are instantly recognizable. The cat has narrow stripes, small upright ears, large hind legs like a hare, and those eyes! The tiny round eyes, which have only one small spot, succeed always to tell the intentions or feelings of the cat. Now the cat is looking carefully at the white bird, which ought to be a catch. But the bird is only astonished at the strange disguise of the cat, bright yellow wings and a huge orange peak. Kliban's drawing style is always superb like now on the tree trunk. And the purple background is typical hue for Kliban.
