There was in yesterday's Hämeen Sanomat newspaper a two-page critique about this summer's Naïve Artist in Iittala exhibition: "Time flies, but nostalgia goes on forever" . This might be the first real art critique about this Naïve art exhibition, that I have spotted. The article was written by Pekka Helin. Even I was mentioned in the article, and in the positive tone. Helin refers to me as a rare graphic artist among very painting-orientated exhibition, and he compares my work to Olli Viiri's (b. 1941) early graphics. Viiri was to me a quite unknown artist, and so I looked his works in the Internet. I found a soul mate. I was quite proud about this parallel! Helin made also a quite playful remark about my cats as an alter ego. A fine article!
The paragraph conserning me goes something like this:
"A small exception (to the prevailing paintings) are Maija Kanerva's linocuts, which have some local colours of Pispala - this is also rare - almost like Olli Viiri's early works. But in these are also lurking that cat - alter ego?"
