LINTULEIMASIMIA / BIRD STAMPS

 

Tein muutaman uuden pienen linopiirroksen linnuista leimasimiksi, joita tunnun mielelläni käyttävän isommissa pastelli & linopiirrostöissä. Isompien linolintujen joukkoon aina eksyy jokunen pienikin. Nämä ovat vain noin 3 x 3 cm kokoisia. Kiinnitin linot kuohuviinipullojen korkkeihin, jotta niitä on helpompi painaa.

I made some new small linocuts of birds for stamps, which I seem often to use with bigger pastel 6 linocut works. A few small ones always fly among the bigger birds. These are sized only about 3 x 3 cm. I clued the linos on the corks of bubbling wine bottles, so they are easier to print.

REUNUS MONOPRINTEILLE / BORDER FOR MONOPRINTS

 Kokeilin pariin monoprinttiin uutta linopiirrosreunusta. Jatkossa pitää varoa tekemästä liian tummia monoiprint-taustoja, sillä ne tuntuvat liian "ahtailta" ja täysiltä. Hennohko, vaalea monoprint toimii pohjana paremmin. ja siihen voi tarvittaessa lisätä kuvioita linopiirrosleimasimilla ja leimasinmusteella. Monoprint-pohjan koko on 15 x 15 c, ja reunuksineen kuvan koko 21 x 21 cm. Nyt vaan sekoittamaan värejä monoprinteille, aion käyttää Gelli-levyä.

I tested my new linocut border for couple of monoprints. In the future I might be aware of making too dark monoprint backgrounds, because they feel to "cramped" and full. More delicate, light monoprint suits better for the base, and I can always add patterns with using linocut stamps and stamp ink. The size of a monoprint background is 15 x 15 cm, and with the border the size is 21 x 21 cm. And now just mixing colours for monoprints, I plan to use a Gelli plate.

REUNUS / BORDER

Tein linopiirroksen reunukseksi 15 x 15 cm kokoisille monoprinteille. Käytin nyt ensimmäistä kertaa Polymer -nimistä ainetta kaiverrukseen. Sininen levy on A3-kokoinen ja tosi pehmeä. Kaivertamisen kanssa saa olla tarkkana, ettei lipsahda. Nyt on kiinnostavaa kokeilla, millainen tuntuma tähän materiaaliin on vedostaessa. Aine muistuttaa hiukan kumia, mutta tuntuu lohkeavan saksilla leikatessa helpommin kuin monta vuotta sitten ainakin kouluissa käytössä ollut vihreä kumilevy.

I made a linocut for the border of my 15 x 15 cm sized monoprints. I used now for the first time material called Polymer for the cutting. The blue blade is A3 -sized and really soft. You have to be careful when carving, so that you don´t slip. Now it´s really interesting to try out, what is the touch of this material is when printing. The material remind me a bit of rubber, but it seems to  chip easier when cutting with scissors than the green rubber plate which was used at least in schools many years ago.

MONOPRINT -testausta / MONOTYPE - Testing

 Miksiköhän pimein vuodenaika eli marraskuu on yleensä sellainen aika, jolloin aloitan monoprinttien kanssa testailun. Liittyisikö se siihen, että saa sotkea värien kanssa, sekoittaa eri tekniikoita, ehkä kerätä luonnosta viimeisiä lehtiä vedostukseen. Nyt ajattelin tehdä reunuksen monoprinttiin linopiirroksena. Monoprintti olisi noin 15 x 15 cm, johon mahtuisi iso osa jo valmiina olevista linopiirroksistani, kissoja, lehtiä, lintuja ja perhosia. Tarkoitus olisi tehdä linopiirrokslile tausta monoprinttinä. Testailin nyt taustaa vain töpsöttelemällä värillisiä musteita sienen palalla paperille lentävän kissalinon ympärille ja painelemalla lehtikuviota linoleimasimella ja leimasimusteella.

Why is it that the darkest time of the year or November is usually the time when I start testing monoprints or monotype. Maybe it´s because you can mess with colours, mix different techniques, perhaps collect the last leaves from the nature for printing. Now I think I make a linocut for the border. The monoprint would be approximately 15 x 15 cm, which is a good size and fits for the great part of my already existing small linocuts of cats, plants, birds and butterflies. My meaning is to make the background for linocuts as a monoprint. I tested now the background just blunting coloured inks with a piece of sponge on paper around a flying cat lino and printing leaf-motives with a lino stamp and ink pad.
