LENTÄVÄT MATOT / FLYING CARPETS

 

Kesän helteellä väritin tussilla linopiirrospohjalle nämä viisi lentävää mattoa. Jokaisen keskellä on kerällä linopiirroksen kissa. Näitä oli tosi kiva tehdä ja nähdä, että kukin väri toi kuvaan oman tunnelmansa:

- keltaoranssi

- vihreä

- puna/vihreä

- sininen

- ruskehtava.

Kunkin koko on 20 x 20 cm.

In the heat of summer, I colored these five flying carpets on a linocut base with markers. In the middle of each one is a linocut cat. It was really fun to make these and see that each color brought its own atmosphere to the picture:

- yellow-orange

- green

- red/green

- blue

- brownish.

Each size is 20 x 20 cm.

KUDOTTU MATTO, LEPO ANSAITTU / KNOTTED CARPET, DESERVED REST

 

Viides ja tällä erää viimeinen linopiirroskissasta kerällä lentävällä matolla on ruskehtava, hiukan on mukana keltaista ja oranssia. Värit matolle tein tussilla. Näitä kirjavia mattoja oli kiva tehdä, niistä tuli jotenkin eri tunnelmaisia eri väreissä - ei kahta samanlaista. Tämä versio sai nimekseen "Kudottu matto, Lepo ansaittu". Kuvan koko on 20 x 20 cm.

 The fifth and at least now the last cat in the series of linocut cats on the flying carpet is brownish, with a little yellow and orange. I used markers to color the carpet. It was fun to make these colorful carpets, they somehow gave off different moods in different colors - no two are the same. This carpet cat was named "Knotted carpet, deserved rest". The size of the picture is 20 x 20 cm.

PALJON VANHAA, HIUKAN UUTTA /A LOT OF OLD, A LITTLE NEW

Neljäs linopiirros kissasta lentävällä matolla on sininen, joka ei taida olla kovin yleinen väri itämaisissa matoissa. Värit on thety linopiirrospohjaan tussilla. Nimeksi tälle versiolle tuli "Paljon vanhaa, hiukan uutta, monen muiston kirjavuutta". Kuvan koko on 20 x 20 cm.

The fourth linocut of a cat on a flying carpet is blue, which is not a very common color in oriental carpets. The colors were applied to the linocut base with marker. This version was named "A Lot Of Old, a Little New, a Variety Of Many Memories". The size of the picture is 20 x 20 cm.

KODIN SYDÄN / THE HEART OF HOME

Kolmas linopiirros pyöreästä kissasta sai taustakseen punaista ja vihreää tussia. Nimeksi tuli "Kodin sydän". Kun näitä vedostettuja linopiirrospohjia värittää, yllättyy aina miten erilaisilta näyttävät vaikkapa tämä puna/vihreä ja pelkkä vihreäsävyinen matto. Kuvan koko on 20 x 20 cm.

The third linocut of a round cat was given a red and green marker background. It was called "The Heart of Home". When you color these printed linocut bases, you are always surprised at how different for example this red/green and a plain green rug look. The size of the picture is 20 x 20 cm.

 

LENTÄVÄN MATON LEPÄILIJÄ /RESTING ON THE FLYING CARPET

 

Toinen linopiirros kissasta itämaisella matolla on väritetty vihreillä tusseilla, mukana myös hiukan keltaista. Tämä versio sai nimekseen "Lentävän maton lepäilijä". Kuvan koko on 20 x 20 cm.

The second linocut cat sleeping on an oriental carpet is colored with green markers, also with a little yellow. This version was named "Resting On the Flying Carpet ". The size of the image is 20 x 20 cm.

ELÄMÄ ON KUIN SILKKIÄ VAAN / LIFE IS LIKE SILK

 

Löysin kesämökillä keskeneräisistä kuvistani muutaman vedostetun linopiirroskissan itämaisella matolla. Kuvioita ei ollut väritetty, joten siitä vaan.  Väritin maton kuviot oransseilla ja keltaisilla tusseilla. Kuvan koko on 20 x 20 cm. Nimekseen tämä sai  "Elämä on kuin silkkiä vaan".

I found a few prints of linocut cats on an oriental rug among my unfinished pictures at the summer cottage. The patterns hadn't been colored, so that's it. I colored the patterns on the rug with orange and yellow markers. The size of the picture is 20 x 20 cm. This one was called "Life Is Like Silk".

VIHREÄ LENTÄVÄ MATTO / GREEN FLYING CARPET

Silloin tällöin kun on sopiva hetki teen uuden lentävän maton. Näitä linopiirroksia kissasta persilalaisella matolla on pino valmiina vedostettuina. Lisään vain värit käsin värittämällä. Nyt huomasin, että päävärit ovat tällä kertaa vihreä ja keltainen, jotenkin rauhoittavat värit.

Every now and then when the time is right I make a new flying carpet. There is a printed stack of these linocuts of a cat on a Persian carpet. I just add some colour by hand. Now I noticed that the main colours at this time are green and yellow, somehow restful colours.

LENTÄVÄ MATTO / FLYING CARPET

Tein taas uuden version linopiirroksesta, jossa kissa makaa itämaisella lentävällä matolla. Tämä on vihreä/punainen. Käytin nyt väritykseen tusseja, joilla onnistuvat kirkkaammat ja tummemmat värisävyt. Tämä versio lähtee kesäksi Varkauteen Taidekeskus Väinölän naivistiseen yhteisnättelyyn Iloa - Naivistit Varkaudessa 27.5.-24.8.2019.

I made  a new version of my linocut of a cat lying on an Oriental flying carpet. This one is red-green. I used now Indian ink hand-colouring the lino so I get darker and brighter hues. This version is going to be for the summer in Varkaus at Art Center Väinölä´s Naïve art exhibition Joy - Naïve Artists in Varkaus  25 May - 28 August 2019.

LENTÄVÄ MATTO / MAGIC CARPET

Vedostin aiemmin linoleikkaukseni pienestä pyöreästä mustasta kissasta punaisella räsymatolla. Nyt jatkoin samaa teemaa ja vedostin saman kissan lentävällä persialaisella matolla. Kuva on tehty kahdesta erillisestä linoleikkauksesta: kissasta ja matosta. Valitsin maton väriksi punaruskean, sillä tavoitteena oli värittää matto käsin. Käytin pastellikyniä ja tein kaksi erilaista väritettyä versiota: vaaleammani sini/punasävyisen ja kirkkaamman, jossa on mukana myös vihreää. Näitä lentäviä mattojahan voisi tehdä vaikka minkä värisiä!

I printed earlier my linocut of a small round cat on a red rag rug. Now I continued with the same theme and printed the same cat on a magic Persian carpet. The picture has been made of two separate linocuts: the cat and the carpet. I chose reddish brown as the colour of the carpet, because my aim was to colour the carpet by hand. I used pastel pens and made two coloured versions: lighter blue/red and brighter with a bit of green. These magic carpet could be any colour!
