Tämä kruunupäinen  kissaeläin on osa perulaisesta kuvakudoksesta, joka on tehty aikavälillä 1680-1720. Leijonalla on hurja punainen kieli, ja kynsien, hännän ja harjan kuviointi ovat hienoja. Kuvakudos on tehty villa-, silkki ja hopealangalla. 

Olen vuosien aikana kerännyt aikamoisen määrän kissakortteja. Museoiden kaupat ovat oikeita aarreaittoja kissakorttien kerääjälle. Useat korteistani ovat taidekortteja.

This crowned feline is a detail of a Peruvian tapestry which was done between 1680-1720. The lion has a ferocious tongue, and the patterns of the claws, tail and mane are delicate. The tapestry was done with wool, silk and silver thread.

I have collected quite a large number of cat cards over decades. Museum shops are treasure-troves for a cat card collector. Several of my cat cads are art cards.

PERUNAPELTO / POTATO FIELD

Linoleikkaussarjani Suomen luonnosta saa nyt loppua. Näitä samanmallisia linoja on jo kahdeksan. Viimeisin tässä sarjassa on "Perunapelto". Perunat pitäisi jo saada ylös maasta, mutta jatkuva sade asettaa esteitä.

My series of linocuts about Finnish nature may now end. There are already eight of these same shaped linocuts. The last in this series is "Potato Field". It is now time to dig the potatoes out, but the constant rain has put me some obstacles.

Tätä sarjaa oli hauska tehdä ja kokeilla erilaisia värejä linojen pohjissa sekä yksityiskohtia linojen  alareunoissa. Värien kohdistaminen oikeisiin  kohtiin oli mielenkiintoista. Keksinkin erilaisia tapoja merkitä sapluunalla väritettävät alueet.

It was fun to make this series and to test different colours in the grounds for the linocuts and also to make the details on the bottom part of the linos. It was interesting to aim the colours to the right places. And I invented different ways to mark the right places for the colours with the stencil for the printing.
