Michael Weigallin kollaasin aiheena on yksi historian kuuluisista henkilöistä kissaksi muunnettuna. Weigall käytti mallinaan omaa kissaansa Merliniä. Weigall on näitä tehnyt aika paljon. Tässä kuvassa Merlin poseeraa intiaanipäällikkö Istuvana kissana ("Chief Sitting Cat"). Kissalla on hurmaavan iso ja kirjava sulkahattu ja takana näkyy intiaanikylä telttoineen, keltaista ja ruskeaa.

Kuvan inspiraationa on ollut intiaanipäällikkö Sitting Bull.

Michael Weigall's collage is about one of the famous people in history transformed into a cat. Weigall used his own cat Merlin as his model. Weigall has done quite a few of these. In this picture, Merlin poses as the Indian chief "Chief Sitting Cat". The cat has a charmingly large and colorful feather hat and in the background you can see an Indian village with tents, yellow and brown.

The picture was inspired by the Indian chief Sitting Bull.

Lontoon Portobello Roadilta vuodelta 1985 on ostettu aika monta Michael Weigallin kissakorttia. Hän puki mustavalkoisen Merlin-kissansa eri maiden ja aikakausien vaatteisiin, ja kissa tuntuu suostuneen poseeraamaan. Tässä "Kissa Espanjassa"-valokuvassa Merlin kyllä näyttää olevan jo lähdössä muihin puuhiin. 

Olen vuosien aikana kerännyt aikamoisen määrän kissakortteja. Museoiden kaupat ovat oikeita aarreaittoja kissakorttien kerääjälle. Useat korteistani ovat taidekortteja.

From London´s Portobello Road in 1985  I bought quite a few Michael Weigall´s cat cards. Weigall has photographed his cat Merlin dressed and staged in clothes from different countries and periods. The black and white cat seems to have agreed to such a thing quite peacefully. But in this photograph "Cat in Spain" Merlin seems to be ready to change the scene. 

I have collected quite a large number of cat cards over decades. Museum shops are treasure-troves for a cat card collector. Several of my cat cads are art cards.
