MAISEMIA / LANDSCAPES -NÄYTTELY / EXHIBITION

Tampereen taidemuseossa on kaksi maisemiin keskittyvää näyttelyä: toinen vanhempaa ja toinen uudempaa aineistoa, toinen grafiikkaa ja toinen valokuvia.

In Tampere Art Museum there is two exhibitions about the nature: the other one is older and the other one newer material, the other one is graphic and the other one photographs.

Englantilaisen J.M W. Turnerin (1775-1851)  näyttely "Matkalla" esittelee erilaisia luontotyyppejä. Turner muokkasi ääriviivat luonnostensa perusteella ja apulaiset tekivät aikaavievän kaiverrustyön näihin grafiikan lehtiin. Tuotoksia myytiin moniosaisena teoksena "Liber Studiorum". Maisemat ovat hyvin romanttisia, dramaattisia ja Turner lisäili varmaan niihin aika paljon omaa näkemystään ja myös eläimiä tai ihmisiä. Turner siis loi maisemakuvia sisäisen näkemyksensä mukaisiksi.

English J. M. W Turner´s (1775-1851)  exhibition "On a Journey" presents different types of nature. Turner draw the outlines after his sketches and his assistants made the time consuming carving work for these graphic sheets.  These landscapes were sold as a publication of several volumes "Liber Studiorum". The landscapes are very romantic, dramatic, and I guess Turner added to these landscapes his own visions, also animals and people. Turner created landscapes after his own inner vision.

Pekka Luukkola (s. 1968) menee näyttelyssään "Maiseman aika" vielä pitemmälle ja muokkaa luonnonmaiseman mieleisekseen erilaisilla tehosteilla. Pitkillä valotusajoilla hän saa esimerkiksi tulet/soihdut tekemään maisemaan kuvioita. Veneen airoihin kiinnitetyt soihdut luovat pitkät jäljet järven pintaan. Valokuvissa korostuu ajan  kuluminen, maapallon pyöriminen tähtitaivaassa tai vuorokausirytmi. Hienoja ovat kuvat, joissa sama maisema on kuvattu päällekkäin päivällä auringossa ja yöllä. Luukkola selostaa aika tarkkaan tekniikkaansa, joka  on todella pitkää pinnaa vaativaa, hidasta ja toisinaan yllätyksellistä. Paikoin metsän puut on käsitelty niin, että tuloksena on melkein kuin painokangas. Isot valokuvat on vedostettu metallilevyille, mikä paikoin saa aikaa hiukan kliinisen kiiltävän tunnelman. 

Pekka Luukkola (b. 1968) goes even  further in his exhibition "Sense of Time" and manipulates landscapes to his liking with different effects. He uses long exposure times to create for example patterns in the nature with fires/ torches. The torches fastened on the oars of a boat leave long marks on the surface of a lake. The passing of the time, the revolving of the globe in the starry night, and the time of the day is finely emphasized in the pictures. Photographs taken from the same landscape in the sunshine and at night are fabulous. Luukkola explains quite accurately his techniques, which are really time consuming, slow, and sometimes surprising. In some photographs the forest/trees are processed so that the result is like a printed fabric. The large photographs have been printed on metal sheets and this creates here and there a bit clinic glossy feeling.

Näiden kahden maisemanäyttelyn vuoropuhelu ja rinnastuminen oli tosi mielenkiintoista.

Is was really interesting to experience the dialogue and many comparisons of these two landscape exhibitions.
